Your opinion

Last night I was talking to a friend about  my lack of attachment to things and how it changed my life..

You see, after my divorce, I was obliged to leave the house with nothing, not even a spoon..The feeling of loss was terrible, not only had I lost my home, I lost my things, I didn’t realize how much I grew attached to material things until then; books, furniture, pillows, cutlery,  you name it, I was sad over things that I had collected for the last 18 years…I convinced myself that I had to be pretty darn superficial to cry over paintings and sheets, so i moved on, to a rental, where I got the basic stuff to live with my kids. By basic I mean the sheets , cutlery, paper lamps etc, everything was lovely, but new, with no attachment or memories to me.

Yesterday a friend of mine was telling me that everything around us has energy, that energy flows between us and our wooden table, our books, our stuff. We are surrounded daily by this energy , that is why we grow attached to things. It seems my crying over lost lamps and such was coming from a deeper connection than I knew existed, not superficial at all!!!

Did you know about that? Do you believe in this flowing energy between us and our surroundings?

Ps: as a result to this loss I learned not to get attached to things anymore, I moved 4 times in the last 4 years, and  didn’t have any problem with leaving stuff behind. Is it because I didn’t have enough time to get attached or because I kind of stopped the flow of energy unconsciously?

What do you think?

Things we collect and grow attached to…

Why don’t you?

Why don’t you cover your folding closet doors with wallpaper?, It looks so much more stylish and custom-made. I love the idea…I have never had wallpaper anywhere in my houses, what about you, have you tried it before, what do you think, better than paint?

Lighting…Who ever thought it would be such a big deal choosing a light fixture?! But it is! There are so many styles out there, so many colors, the choice is limitless..I only hung one light fixture till now, you can see it here , and the rest, well, here is some inspiration..

See what i mean? I guess at the end of the day you just go with the thing you like the most, regardless of style or period or color…You like it, get it, no questions asked!

Knoll love!

My chairs are finally here!! Here is a peek at the unfinished dining room (couldn’t resist sharing my enthusiasm over those chairs!)

And here is a renovated building in downtown Beirut

It’s hard to imagine that once this building was rundown by bullets and shell holes …

Room of the week

I’ve had this picture for a while in my files, i don’t know what i love more, the colors, the bedspread, the side tables, that tufted screen/headboard, and the fact that the lights are attached to that headboard, genius!…What an amazing and stylish idea for a headless bed or a wall that isn’t straight like the one above..

What do you think, would you go for something like this?

Wednesday mix

We have officially moved house! Finally, after a few weeks of packing and spending time back and forth to check on the renovations, i can say that i’m finally settled..Now it’s the unpacking that is a bummer! Since my husband is helping with the unpacking , he found that i pack a bit too well !(it’s taking him time to unpack each item poor guy!!)..

Anyway, the place is coming together slowly, got connected to the internet yesterday, so i am back!

Here is a sneak peek of the only lighting fixture we hung till now

I took it from my husband’s office , since i found it would fit perfectly in our kitchen!

A few inspirational pictures for you to enjoy on this beautiful Wednesday..

My daughter sent me this picture, it's a great idea don't you think?

Another idea worth doing..

I love it! So true!!

Festive ribbons

In the old days, women used to put ribbons in their hair during festivities, and gave their best ribbons to their knights…Ribbons have always symbolised festive events, from gift wrapping, to ribbons on dresses , or as above in decoration for special events.

Have you ever tried something similar?
