“The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to their male colleagues, women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally, women’s education, health, and the violence against them is worse than that of men.”
I know for a fact and from previous experiences that in Lebanon women are still way behind reaching equal rights…
Every year, on March 8th, thousand of events are held around the world to honor and celebrate past achievements, and to inspire women in reminding them of inequities still to be redressed.
One such event is being held in Beirut today, by women for women demanding their basic rights.
(If we don’t get our rights, we will become men, behave like them, talk like them…no more women…does it take a moustache to have rights?) That’s the gist of it.
So ladies around the world, i salute you, embrace you, and i wish us all the luck..
